Job Summary
The Painter is responsible for maintaining the appearance and condition of the property through painting, surface preparation, finishing, and minor repair works. The role ensures that guest areas, back-of-house areas, facilities, and equipment are maintained to a high standard in accordance with company standards and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform painting, touch-up, staining, varnishing, and finishing works throughout the property.
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, scraping, filling cracks and holes, and applying primer before painting.
- Mix and match paint colors to achieve the required finish and maintain consistency.
- Carry out preventive maintenance and routine inspections of painted surfaces.
- Repair damaged walls, ceilings, doors, furniture, and other surfaces as required.
- Protect surrounding areas, furniture, and equipment before commencing painting work.
- Maintain painting tools, equipment, materials, and storage areas in clean and safe condition.
- Monitor paint and material inventory and inform the supervisor when replenishment is required.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and complete assigned work orders within the required timeframe.
- Coordinate with Engineering and other departments to minimize disruption to guests and operations.
- Follow all occupational health, safety, fire safety, and environmental procedures.
- Use chemicals, paints, solvents, ladders, and other equipment safely and correctly.
- Maintain cleanliness of the work area during and after completion of each assignment.
- Support other general Engineering and maintenance duties when required.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Engineering Supervisor or Chief Engineer.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous experience as a Painter, preferably within a hotel, resort, wellness, or similar environment.
- Knowledge of painting techniques, surface preparation, color matching, and finishing materials.
- Ability to use painting tools and equipment safely.
- Basic knowledge of general building maintenance is an advantage.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physically able to perform maintenance duties, including working on ladders and lifting materials.
- Flexible to work shifts, weekends, or public holidays when operationally required.
